Let's dig into some numbers associated with the Celtics acquisition of Cassell and Brown. What can we expect, where will they fit into the Celtics 2nd half run and prep for the post-season.
Cassell Remember when Cassell used to dish off to the Dream Shake? Here are his numbers back then.
1993-94,1994-95 Houston Rockets (Championship seasons)
- 1994-95
- Minutes: 23.0
- Points: 9.5
- Assists: 4.9
His most productive years. 2003-04 in Minnesota.
- Minutes: 35.0
- Points: 19.8
- Assists: 7.3
How about this year, 2007-2008.
- Minutes: 33
- Points: 12.8
- Assists: 4.7
I'm not sure what this says. You can see the clear transition between being focused on running and dishing with the Rockets and then being relied on to score with Minnesota. Flexibility is good. I guess the question is how ready is he to focus on managing the floor time with little error and also D'ing up on Billups come post-season. Either, what a good fit. I look forward to seeing him become integrated. Rondo, don't worry, the C's will have plenty of floor time for you, your speed coupled with Cassell's wisdom will be a challenge for teams.
Brown Experience, toughness and easy to get along with. I think that is probably the tagline for PJ. Another smart addition to the team. Given the committee rotation of forwards in Boston, he'll clearly come in as assistance mitigating the Rasheed Wallace, Tim Duncan and Dirk factors.
His most productive years. 2002-03 with Hornets. - Minutes: 33.4
- Points: 10.7
- Assists: 9.0
How about this year, 2007-2008.
- Minutes: 20.2
- Points: 4.8
- Assists: 6.1
So, here's a quick glance at some of the numbers. I guess the true story here is ulitmately the intangibles. This adds a couple more experienced players to Celts, better stock up on the Omega 3. Make of it what you will. |
