The big news surrounding the NBA right now is that yet another All-Star wants out of the city that made him who he is. This seems to be happening more and more in professional spots, especially with the madness that is free agency. Players play well for a season or two, get an inflated sense of self value, and leave town if their contract is up, or try and force their hand if they're still locked into the initial deal that their current team was generous enough to give them. Very rarely in the NBA, however, is this player the third best player on his own team. I'm talking, of course, about Shawn Marion. |

Shawn Marion and Andre Kirilenko both want trades. The only thing that makes sense is if both teams trade them for each other. |

Hey, the Celtics acquisition (sounds like a digital transaction) of KG and Ray Allen is big news. Had you hooked up a seismograph to the Big Dig and you would have recorded the collective rush of the Celts fans running to get their season tickets. (what can I say, I grabbed some too) |

Stop. Just wait a second. Before you sit there and start to rail into Billy Donovan, saying he’s selfish, a traitor, a coward and more of a flip-flopper than John Kerry in 2004, step back and consider the situation. |

So, is it too early to look ahead to the 2007-08 season? My guess is many of you already have. It’s hard not to, considering the stellar year college basketball fans just enjoyed. But, with so many questions surrounding who’s going (see Greg Oden, Mike Conley), who’s staying (Indiana’s D.J. White), its hard not to look forward and start to think about the contenders for next season. |
