So it's 3:00 AM and I'm too mad to be tired. I'm not going to vent and lay all my problems on you but allow me to outline, if you will, the last 29 hours or so of my life. Caution: What you are about to read has far less to do about basketball than my normal articles and at times is probably a little random. I'm strangely okay with all this and if you are too then please continue:

..:: Comment on this article

Alright, it's time to reveal the first power rankings based on the play of the teams this season.  I'd like to take this opportunity discuss the weekly trends as well as throw in my two cents about every team in the league.  As is the case every year there have been some early surprises (Clippers) and some early disappointments (Wizards).  It's still too early in the season to make a complete assessment of the state of the teams but here are a few things I have learned so far:

Every Friday, I’ll be posting the top 20 teams in all of Division I Men’s College Basketball as I see it, along with, well, pretty much anything else I feel like posting. Sit back, marvel at my genius, and please, let the vitriol build up to the point of explosion before responding. It’s much more entertaining (for me) that way.

What follows is part 2 of a two-part series saluting basketball in all its forms

College Ball is Cool, Too

College basketball has three things going for it that will never be topped by any other sport, professional or collegiate. The first is the sense of oneness fostered in the school’s community by a long season of thirty-some games capped with the possibility of a deep tournament run. The second is the chance to find and watch a rising star as he ascends to national prominence. The third is the controlled insanity of the NCAA tournament.

What follows is part one of a two-part series.  Up first, the NBA.  Coming tomorrow, "College Hoops are Cool As Well."

I love basketball. I wouldn’t be writing for this website if that weren’t the case. A three on two fast break piloted by Jason Kidd or Steve Nash is poetry in motion. The only game with a goal suspended in mid-air, it encourages players to take to the heavens and reach, as it were, for the sky. It is a beautiful game, I would argue the only American major sport that can claim as much.

So I've been meaning to write an article about Kobe for some time now. To be completely honest I've actually written this article, not once, but twice, only to have my computer freeze in the middle and lose everything. This left my wondering two things. Why God hates me, and why after having it freeze on me once, did I not learn to save every so often. While I'm still contemplating the first one, I have changed my ways and will be a constant saver from now on. But that's neither here nor there. Back to the topic at hand.
