Discussion Thread for Marion and Kirilenko by Mark Hammerschmidt

Doesn't Marion know a good thing when he sees one? I think you're right for a straight swap of players. It would be fun to see Kirilenko in a Suns uni, if anything, he should maintain their up tempo game.

As for Marion, it seems like this move will end up placing him in NBA obscurity given that the Suns have been the perfect team for a all around scrapper.

How about Marion to the Lakers for Luke Walton. Marion could live the LA life and Walton can thrive along side Nash....the around the back, thread the needle duo.

While this trade may benefit the players, there is no easy way to get it done. The Lakers are already over the salary cap. They would need to cut roughly $16 million to make this happen. Is Marion worth throwing Odom into that trade? Maybe there is some type of multi-team deal that would make this possible.

Plus, would Marion really thrive in L.A. if Kobe isn't giving up the rock?

How about giving up Kobe for Marion and some other talent? I'm sure Kobe could benefit from playing with an A+ PG like Nash. Plus, Marion could really bring some heart and energy to a Laker's team desperately in need of just that. I think both would thrive in a new environment. Nash wouldn't mind picking 10+ assists a night passing to Kobe, and Marion can take on a more primetime role, while helping to get the younger Laker's involved and energized. When you take a deeper look down the rosters, this truly seems like one of the best Kobe trade scenarios, in which, both teams woiuld come out of the deal better.
